On April 19, 2017 the editorial team at Innovation Forum outlined three things the Modern Slavery Act has achieved.
According to the editorial, “(b)y forcing businesses to put out board director-signed statements every year, detailing an intent to get a grip on social issues within supplier companies, the act has, in many cases, brought such issues into boardroom conversations for the very first time.”
The legislation has achieved the following:
- “It started the ball rolling – and offers huge potential for transformation
- Other governments have followed suit, helping level the playing field.
- It gives companies a chance to innovate.”
