“When ethical ETFs aren’t ethical” – Investors Chronicle – July 28, 2016

An article published on July 28, 2016 in Investors Chronicle analyzes the composition of a number of ethical or socially responsible exchange traded funds (ETFs) traded on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) and finds that in some cases the ETF holds stocks that one would assume to be excluded.  The article notes companies in developed and emerging markets that appear in ETFs but are excluded from socially responsible investment (SRI) indices because of their industry or their carbon emissions.  At the end of the article, readers will find a very useful chart of 17 ETFs listed on the LSE – noting the ETF, ticker, benchmark index and Morningstar rating.
