On January 29, 2016 the Financial Times Adviser reported on research conducted by UBS Global Asset Management (GAM) that shows outperformance of SRI indices. According to Andrew Walsh, head of UK ETF sales at UBS GAM, “(t)he key message is that, contrary to historical perceptions, these days, you can own an SRI fund and outperform the parent index. It doesn’t have to be some burden on your performance. Recent data shows clearly over the last couple of years that SRI indices have generally been outperforming the standard market weighted parent indices.”
The research documented that “(o)utperformance was evident across the MSCI World, North America, Pacific, Europe and Middle East, UK IMI, Emerging Markets, and Japan SRI indices.”
