An article published on the website of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on August 13, 2015 explains why renewables are about to gain prominence in Egypt. Currently, the EBRD is providing technical assistance in the policy arena, sponsoring a tender for a solar project and conducting an environmental and social assessment of the second phase of an existing renewables project. Longer term, the EBRD is investigating investment in the renewables sector.
