In an article published on AlertNet on April 13, 2013 entitled, “Climate Conversations – Norway’s government pension fund divests from palm oil producers,” Sophia Gnych reports on the 2012 divestiture by the Norwegian Government Pension Fund Global.
According to the Fund’s 2012 Annual Report, “In the first quarter of 2013 the Fund sold stakes in 23 companies that by its reckoning produced palm oil unsustainably.” The Fund is managed by Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM), which, according to the same section of the annual report, became a member of the Climate Disclosure Project in 2012.
